The Vale of Leven Trust (VOLT) is a community development trust based in Alexandria, West Dunbartonshire. Alexandria Town Centre is the main shopping area for the Vale of Leven and is known as ‘the Heart of the Vale’. The Vale of Leven encompasses Alexandria, Tullichewan, Levenvale, Haldane, Jamestown, Dalmonach, Bonhill and Balloch. 

The Vale of Leven Trust attained charity status in 2017 and since then has been working with and for communities and businesses in the Vale to improve the lives and wellbeing of residents. By bringing people together through our various projects and activities we provide opportunities for participation and involvement that reduce social isolation, promote community engagement and boost the local economy.

VOLT’s main aims are to:

• Improve the economy of the town of Alexandria. 
• Improve the physical environment of the Vale of Leven.
• Investigate how the economy/ footfall can be increased within the town centre. 
• Investigate how the lives of residents can be improved against the current more negative outcomes noted in the West Dunbartonshire SIMD (2016 & 2020).
